If only i could hop on a plane right now. I'd walk around Helsinki. Have breakfast at café Engel. Walk to Kiasma. Visit the store. Take more pictures and breathe in the fresh sea air.

almost weekend <3

[the beach]

Pictures from last friday. The weather was lovely. The food was good, as were the conversations.

[sound]

motorcycle passing by. typing. humming of the computer. birds. mumbling of the chinese downstairs. flushing of a toilet. van passing through the street. door closing. the kitten purring. seaguls. the toaster. someone's vaccuming.

[missing finland]

After returning from Finland the last time, I thought it would be settled. No more homesickness. Been there, done that. But it returned slowly. And while it might not be as intense as it was one day, the feeling of longing for that piece of land, the people on it and the way of life remains.

There really is nothing else i can do right now. So i'm just gonna surround myself with Finish things like books, music, a moomin mug. While knowing that when i bike through the Dutch land, I feel at home as well.

[written this morning]

Not even 7 am yet. Had breakfast, now reading blogs and enjoying a hot cup of tea.
A blanket wrapped around my legs. The kitten is eating and the furnace is humming.
A busy day ahead. But it's not yet here. I'm gonna stay in this quiet world for just a little longer. And have another sip of tea.

[Not nearly as long]

as it used to be.

But my hair is slowly growing longer.
So happy that a messy bun is an option again.

I missed that.

  • started the day with some coffee. i think it was ethiopian.
  • made myself some breakfast, ate it while returning emails to friends who travel the globe
  • noticed the greyness outside and the cold inside and decided to take a bath. yes, at 9am
  • read 'The Goddess Experience' by Gisèle Scanlon while my toes played with ginseng & indian rose scented bubbles (and drank some more coffee. it was just too good)
  • got dressed & started cleaning the kitchen
  • went out to get more cleaning supplies
  • my dad came over for lunch. he brought me a plant.
  • after lunch we went for a walk
  • followed by...coffee. this time Guatamalan
  • did i mention i've been experimenting with different kinds of coffees lately?
  • after my dad left i did some more cleaning
  • now, time for dinner. roasted potatoes, cucumber salade and a veggie burger thingy

[words]

Why do we let one bad review sweep all the good, splendid, loving, mind blowing ones from the table?

Why do we let one mistake, how bad it might have been, rule our world?

Why is it so much easier to look back on our past and see our faults and failures, than to see the good we did and acknowledge our triumphs?

I haven't figured it out yet. But I'm starting to remember the good things. The loving words. My words.

So here goes.
